A disturbing trend Iβve noticed: leaders who believe in “breaking spirits to build champions.”
My experience has taught me that this approach is fundamentally flawed.
I was deeply moved by Leena Nair’s powerful message: “Lift as you climb.” It resonated because it challenges the toxic competitive culture we’ve normalized.
It got me thinking- When did we start believing that creating fear drives performance? Why do we celebrate those who step on others to reach the top? How sustainable is success built on broken spirits?
Try this out instead:
β Let your team know it’s OKAY to fail and learn to rise
β Celebrate collective wins more than individual victories
β Make mentorship a core leadership responsibility
β Share credit generously, take blame gracefully
The results? Higher team retention, increased innovation, stronger collaboration and sustainable growth.
True leadership is about making everyone in the room smarter.
What kind of leadership do you believe drives lasting success: one that lifts others up or one that builds on fear?
